Transporting students to and from school and other activities in a safe and efficient manner.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties of this position include the following.  Employees in this position must be able to perform with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. High school diploma or equivalent as required by OAR 581-37-030, Oregon Department of Education.
  2. 18 years of age or older.
  3. Appropriate Oregon School Bus Drivers License
  4. Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, and staff
  5. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  6. Ability to maintain confidentiality of students and their records.
  7. Ability to demonstrate standards of moral character and behavior to serve as an effective role model for students
  8. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and staff.
  9. Drives school bus on an assigned route.
  10. Loads and unloads students at specific stops on an established time schedule with the utmost regard for safety
  11. Checks vehicle gas, oil, signals, wipers, brakes, lights, water and other components to assure proper levels and/or operation prior to each trip.
  12. Records gas, oil and mileage readings.
  13. Keeps vehicle clean inside and out.
  14. Does not drive more than ten total hours during any consecutive fifteen hour period.
  15. Must be willing and able to occasionally drive on weekends and during night time hours.
  16. Drives bus on special trips outside the district.
  17. Maintains discipline on bus and reports discipline problems according to district policy and procedures.
  18. Attends classes and training to keep license current.
  19. Reports traffic violations related to school bus operation to city, county, or state police agencies.
  20. Abides by federal and state laws and school district policies, procedures and rules.
  21. Makes provision for a responsible person to guard the rear of buses when backing up on school grounds.
  22. Participate in in-service training as assigned.
  23. Act as a friendly ambassador for the Mt. Angel School District.
  24. Perform such other duties (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may be assigned. Abides by federal and state laws and school district policies, procedures and rules.
  25. Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with community and staff.
  26. Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required. 
  27. Complies with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
  28. Attends work regularly and is punctual.
  29. Perform such other duties (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may be assigned.
